Erickson and Johnston Garner First WIAC Gymnast of the Week Honors of the Season

Madison, Wisc. – January 10, 2017 – Highlighting the first weekend of competition for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire’s Tori Erickson (Woodbury, Minn.) and Winona State University’s freshman Kelly Johnston (Arlington Heights, Ill.) garnered the conference’s gymnast of the week honors, announce on Tuesday.

In Erickson’s first time competing in the all-around since her first year with the program, the junior recorded personal bests in the vault (9.625), balance beam (9.625), floor exercise (9.8) and all–around (37.525).  Erickson tied for the second on the vault competing against NCAA Division I Central Michigan University and Hamline University (Minn.), and placed fifth on the balance beam and third on the floor exercise.

Johnston won the balance beam in the Warriors meet against NCAA Division I – Air Force Academy this past weekend. The freshman’s score of 9.625 came after routines that scored a 9.60 and 9.65. As a team, the Warriors scored 47.525 on the beam, tied for sixth best all-time in school history.
