UW-Oshkosh’s Jarvis Named Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete

MADISON, Wis.–University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s Rahdea Jarvis has been named the recipient of the 2023 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete Award.

A graduate student from Brookfield, Wis. (Central), Jarvis owns a 3.71 grade point average and is pursuing a master of business administration. She received an undergraduate degree in business. Jarvis was recognized as a National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-America in Academics a year ago and the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-America Team in 2020 and 2021. She is a four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and been recognized on UW-Oshkosh’s Dean’s List and Honor Roll numerous semesters. In 2022, Jarvis received the UW-Oshkosh Senior Coaches Award and was a WIAC nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year.

A four-time team captain, Jarvis is a two-time NCGA All-American and helped UW-Oshkosh win the NCGA Championship in 2022, and WIAC titles in 2020, 2022 and 2023. She finished fifth in the country on the uneven bars in 2022 and placed eighth on the vault at the 2019 NCGA Championship. Jarvis has earned six All-WIAC awards – floor exercise (2020, 2023), uneven bars (2019, 2022) and vault (2020, 2021).

Jarvis attended the 2020 NCAA Career In Sports Forum and represented UW-Oshkosh at the 2019 WIAC Student-Athlete Leadership Conference. She is a member of UW-Oshkosh’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has volunteered at the Oshkosh Food Pantry and as a student mentor at an elementary school. Jarvis has held internships with UW-Oshkosh Athletics, Oshkosh Arena and Titan Property Management.

Also nominated for this year’s scholar-athlete award were: Gustavus Adolphus College’s Annie Corbett (Sr., Brookfield, Wis./East); UW-Eau Claire’s Lilianna Shank (Sr., Elkhart, Ind./Concord); Hamline University’s Madeline Sowinski (Sr., Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West); UW-La Crosse’s Kerrie Legault (Sr., Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove); UW-Whitewater’s Faith Mylin (Sr., Elgin, Ill./Harvest Christian Academy); and Winona State University’s Breanna Ho (Sr., Ajax, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson Secondary).

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October, 1984 – September, 1996. Kruckman was the women’s athletics director at UW-Eau Claire from 1974-84, and one of the original representatives to the WWIAC when it formed in 1971. She was inducted into the WIAC Hall of Fame in 2012.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years. The award is based on academic achievements, athletics accomplishments and involvement in other campus activities, organizations and community service projects.
