Springfield, Mass. – February 5, 2018 – Springfield College’s Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) and Ithaca’s Courtney Christoforo (Saco, Maine) have been recognized for their impressive performances this past weekend, as they each earned National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Co-Specialist of the Week honors, announced on Monday.
Tali Twomey, a sophomore for Springfield College, had an impressive showing in the Pride’s dual-meet victory over Cortland, as she helped the maroon and white to it’s best team score of the year (188.700). A sophomore Rehabilitation and Disability Studies major at Springfield College, Twomey tied the Springfield College program record in the floor exercise with a score of 9.825. Twomey also competed on vault on Sunday, as she registered a mark of 9.325, tying her for eighth in the event.
The Bombers continued to get excellent performances from its freshmen class on Sunday, as Ithaca dropped a tightly contested dual-meet at NCGA East leader Brockport 188.925-to-188.575. Christoforo turned in a standout performance on uneven bars, smashing her previous personal best by .225 to register a 9.500 that was the top overall score in the rotation on the afternoon. She has now improved in each of the past two meets and continues to establish herself as a mainstay in the lineup for IC in the event.
