Madison, Wis. – January 23, 2018 – UW-Stout’s Brooke Terry (Erie, Colo.) and UW-La Crosse’s Jessica Ahrens (Versailles, Ohio) have been recognized for their impressive performances this past week as the duo earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Tuesday.
Terry, a sophomore for the Blue Devils, collected WIAC All-Around Gymnast of the Week honors, while Ahrens was tabbed the WIAC Specialist of the Week after leading the Eagles to victory over Hamline.
Terry claimed four personal best scores, including a first-place finish in the all-around in only her second career all-around performance, as UW-Stout defeated UW-Eau Claire, 186.575-185.475, in Menomonie on Jan. 19. She scored a personal-best 37.725 in winning the all-around event. Terry also scored personal-bests on the uneven bars (9.200), the balance beam (9.650) and the floor exercise (9.575). Terry was seventh on the bars, third on the balance beam and third on the floor exercise. Terry also contributed a fourth-place finish of 9.300 on the vault.
Ahrens won a pair of events in UW-La Crosse’s dual victory at Hamline University (Minn.) on Jan. 19. She captured the vault (9.600) and balance beam (9.775). Her score of 9.775 on the balance beam was a career-high.
