Springfield, Mass. – February 27, 2017 – Ursinus College’s Alexandra Puryear (Cranford, N.J.) and Skylar Haas (Kings Park, N.Y.) have been recognized for their standout performances this past weekend, as each earned National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Gymnast of the Week honors, announced Monday.
This marks the second time this season that Puryear has been named the NCGA East All-Around Gymnast of the Week, as the junior was also recognized on January 30. However, this is the first NCGA East honor for Haas, who was named the NCGA East Specialist of the Week after a dominant performance on beam this past weekend.
Puryear combined on four events for a 37.225 at Ithaca this past weekend, competing against the Bombers, Brockport and Rhode Island College. The Cranfield, N.J. native’s performance was highlighted by a winning score of 9.800 on the balance beam, while she also took third on the uneven bars with a 9.375.
Haas, a freshman from Kings Park, N.Y. also competed on Beam for the Bears, and notched a career-best 9.750 to tie for fourth overall in the meet.
