Madison, Wis. – March 5, 2019 – Kacey Mortenson (Oregon, Wis.) of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s gymnastics team and Hannah Lewis of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s gymnastics team were honored for their impressive performances this past weekend, as the duo earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Tuesday.
Mortenson was named the WIAC All-Around Gymnast of the Week, while Lewis was the WIAC Specialist of the Week.
Mortenson won the all-around title (37.925) in UW-La Crosse’s dual victory at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on March 1. She also won the uneven bars (9.600) and balance beam (9.500), while finishing fourth on the vault (9.375). Mortenson set season-highs in the all-around, uneven bars and balance beam.
Lewis is coming off back-to-back uneven bars title wins. On March 1, she had the best routine of her career thus far, and stuck her bar dismount. She won the event with a 9.675 against UW-Stout, reaching the second-highest score in school history and a season best for her. Lewis holds the top-five individual scores in school history on the uneven bars.
