Springfield, Mass. – January 22, 2018 – Stephanie Mager (Andover, Conn.) of The College at Brockport and Emma Schulz (Poughquag, N.Y.) of SUNY Cortland have been recognized for their impressive performances and were named the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Gymnast of the Week honors.
Mager, a junior at Brockport, was named the NCGA East All-Around Gymnast of the Week, while Schulz, a freshman for Cortland, earned NCGA East Specialist of the Week for the second time this year.
Mager handed in her best all-around score of the season, a 37.875 in a dual meet at Ithaca College. The junior took first on the vault with a score of 9.525, and finished third on the floor with a mark of 9.675. Mager rounded out the meet with a fourth place finish on bars (9.375) and took sixth on the beam (9.300).
Schulz tied the Cortland school record on balance beam with her winning score of 9.825 in the Red Dragons’ home tri-meet versus Division I Cornell and Division II Southern Connecticut State. She also tied for first place on floor exercise with a season-best 9.725.
