Springfield, Mass. – March 6, 2018 – Brockport’s Stephanie Mager (Andover, Conn.) and Springfield College’s Jess Clemens (South Setauket, N.Y.) have been recognized for their impressive performances this past week, as the duo earned National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Monday morning.
Mager was named the NCGA East Specialist of the Week for the second time this season, while Clemens picked up her third NCGA East All-Around Gymnast of the Week honor of the year.
Clemens, a junior for Springfield College, was phenomenal for the Pride this past weekend in its final competition before the 2018 NCGA East Regional Championships. Clemens recorded a career-best 38.425 in the all-around competition in a dual meet versus Division-I Cornell, as her meet was highlighted by a career-best vault (9.650), a 9.550 on the uneven bars, a 9.550 on floor and a 9.675 on beam. Clemens was part of a record-breaking performance for the Springfield College vaulters, who combined for a program-best 47.975 in the event.
Mager captured the vault title in the Brown Bears invite on Sunday, winning the event with a score of 9.775, bypassing NCAA Division I and II competitors. The junior also competed on the floor, where she scored a 9.550 and the beam, collecting a score of 9.400.
