Hester and Enright Garner At-Large Academic All-America Honors

Springfield, Mass. – June 13, 2018 – The College at Brockport’s Allison Hester (Port Matilda, Pa.) and the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse’s Amy Enright (Lake Elmo, Minn.) continue to be recognized for their hard work both in the class room and in the gym, as the duo earned Google Cloud Academic All-America honors, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Enright, who produced a cumulative grade-point average of 3.98 in Microbiology was named to the First Team for the second-consecutive season, while Hester, who earned a GPA of 3.96 in Exercise Science, earned Third-Team honors. Enright becomes just the second student-athlete in the history of UW-La Crosse athletics to earn three Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA. She is also one of seven UWL gymnasts to earn Academic All-America honors during their time with the Eagles.

Hester, who was recently inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, the National College Athletic Honor Society at The College at Brockport, was an individual national qualifier on the uneven bars this past season, and took 13th overall with a score of 9.600 on the national stage. The Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society Membership selection is based on outstanding scholarship, athletic achievement, character and citizenship. Hester also helped the Golden Eagles take third overall in the team competition at the 2018 NCGA National Championship meet, as Brockport registered a team score of 191.350.

A microbiology major with minors in chemistry and Spanish, Enright boasts a 3.98 grade point average, as she has earned a spot on the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women All-Academic Team the last three seasons and is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.  Enright earned 2018 NCGA All-America honors with a second-place finish on the uneven parallel bars. Selected the 2017-18 WIAC Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete, Enright placed fourth on the uneven parallel bars and tied for 11th on the floor exercise at the 2018 league championships in helping lead the Eagles to the team title.
