Springfield, Mass. – February 11, 2019 – Cortland’s Megan Hanley (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and Hailey DiCicco (West Hartford, Conn.) of Ursinus were honored for their impressive performances this past week, as the duo earned National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Monday morning.
Hanley was named the NCGA East Specialist of the Week after a record-breaking performance for the Red Dragons, while DiCicco earned All-Around Gymnast of the Week honors after a performance that resulted in a season-high team score for the Bears.
Hanley tied a school record on balance beam with a 9.825 in Cortland’s home tri-meet with Ursinus and Division II West Chester. She tied for first place out of 18 competitors with the performance. In addition, Hanley recorded a career-best 9.50 to finish third on uneven bars and had a 9.25 on vault. She helped Cortland finish second at the meet with a season-best score of 186.975.
Hailey DiCicco, a sophomore for Ursinus, produced a 37.600 in the all-around competition this last week, as the Bears finished the meet with a season-best team score of 186.150. DiCicco’s top score of the day was a 9.450 on vault, as she also notched a 9.425 on the uneven bars, a 9.375 on floor and a 9.350 on the balance beam. DiCicco was terrific on the bars, earning a 9.425 to place fifth overall with the Bears’ best score of the season. DiCicco registered a personal best on the bars by a full .150.
