Madison, Wis. – January 10, 2018 – Emily Gilot (St. Peters, Mo.) of the UW-Oshkosh women’s gymnastics team and Meghan Webb (Schenectady, N.Y.) of the Hamline women’s gymnastics team were recognized for their impressive season-opening performances this past week, as the duo earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Gymnast of the Week honors, announced earlier this week.
Gilot, a freshman, was named the WIAC All-Around Gymnast of the Week, while Webb, a junior for the Pipers, was the WIAC Specialist of the Week.
Gilot’s collegiate debut was successful as she recorded winning scores on the vault and in the all-around competition during UW-Oshkosh’s 183.525-181.925 season-opening setback to host Hamline University (Minn.) on Jan. 6. Gilot defeated two other all-around participants with her first-place score of 36.800. She won the vault with a score of 9.450, while placing fifth on the balance beam with a value of 9.325. Gilot also recorded scores of 9.150 in the floor exercise and 8.875 on the uneven bars.
Webb was second in the floor exercise (9.600) and balance beam (9.450) and tied for fourth on the vault (9.250) in Hamline University’s (Minn.) 183.525-181.925 win over UW-Oshkosh on January 6.
