Springfield, Mass. – May 31, 2018 – Amy Enright (Lake Elmo, Minn.) of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Allison Hester (Port Matilda, Pa.) of Brockport were both recognized for their hard work in the classroom as well as the gym, as the duo earned Google Cloud Academic All-District honors, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Enright, who produced a cumulative grade-point average of 3.98 in Microbiology, represented District 6 on the At-Large team, while Hester, who earned a GPA of 3.96 in Exercise Science, represented District 3. The at-large team includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Enright and Hester were two of 10 total women’s gymnasts across all Divisions to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors, as the duo was also two of 82 female student-athletes from Division III recognized. Enright and Hester are now eligible for Academic All-America accolades, which will be voted upon later this spring.
A microbiology major with minors in chemistry and Spanish, Enright boasts a 3.98 grade point average, as she has earned a spot on the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women All-Academic Team the last three seasons and is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Enright earned 2018 NCGA All-America honors with a second-place finish on the uneven parallel bars. Selected the 2017-18 WIAC Judy Kruckman Women’s Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete, Enright placed fourth on the uneven parallel bars and tied for 11th on the floor exercise at the 2018 league championships in helping lead the Eagles to the team title.
Hester, who was recently inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, the National College Athletic Honor Society at The College at Brockport, was an individual national qualifier on the uneven bars this past season, and took 13th overall with a score of 9.600 on the national stage. The Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society Membership selection is based on outstanding scholarship, athletic achievement, character and citizenship. Hester also helped the Golden Eagles take third overall in the team competition at the 2018 NCGA National Championship meet, as Brockport registered a team score of 191.350.
