Madison, Wis. – February 26, 2019 – Shadae Boone (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Mikaela Bugge (Oakdale, Minn.) of the University of Wisconsin-Stout women’s gymnastics team were honored for their impressive performances this past weekend, as they earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Tuesday.
For the second time this season, Boone was named the WIAC Specialist of the Week, while Bugge also earned her second WIAC All-Around Gymnast of the Week accolade.
Boone scored a 9.600 in taking first on the vault in a dual meet at UW-La Crosse on Feb. 22, as the Eagles edged the Blue Devils, 187.125-186.925. Boone threw a layout Yurchenko one-and-a-half, becoming the second Division III gymnast to execute the vault in competition.
Bugge scored a 37.900 in the all-around, her second-best career all-around score, in a dual meet at UW-La Crosse on Feb. 22, as the Eagles edged the Blue Devils, 187.125-186.925. She finished first on the floor exercise with a 9.525, tied for second on the vault with a 9.500, was fourth on the uneven bars with a 9.325 and set a career-best on the balance beam with a 9.550.
