Springfield, Mass. – March 4, 2019 – Springfield College’s Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) and Jess Clemens (South Setauket, N.Y.) were honored for their impressive performances this past weekend, as the duo earned National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Monday afternoon.

Rushlow was tabbed the NCGA East Specialist of the Week, while Clemens was named the NCGA East All-Around Gymnast of the Week for the second time in as many weeks, and third time this season.

Rushlow, a sophomore Physician Assistant major at Springfield College, helped the Pride set a new team-scoring record this past weekend, as the maroon and white defeated Rhode Island College with a 190.725, marking the first time in program history that Springfield has eclipsed the 190 plateau. Rushlow started the meet by winning the vault rotation with a 9.650, before posting a 9.600 on balance beam, and wrapping up the day with a career-best 9.775 on floor. Rushlow’s beam and floor score also helped the Pride to break their rotational records in those events, producing a 48.350 on beam and a 48.600 on floor.

Clemens, a senior Sports Biology major at Springfield College, had a record-breaking performance in the all-around competition this past week, as she produced a career-best mark of 38.750, which passed the previous Springfield College program record, which was 38.550. Clemens’ performance also helped the Pride to break its team-scoring (190.725), balance beam (48.350) and floor exercise (48.600) records, as she posted a 9.775 on the balance beam to also tie the previous school record in that event. Clemens started the day with a 9.625 on vault, moved on to a 9.650 on the uneven bars to finish first overall, and finished off the day on floor with a 9.700.
