Scozzie, Lee and Enright Earn CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

Austin, Texas – Three Division III women’s gymnasts were recognized for their dedication to both academics and athletics, as they each earned a spot on the 2016 NCAA Division III Academic All-America® Women’s At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Hannah Lee of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater and SUNY Cortland’s Maddy Scozzie were both selected to the second team, while Amy Enright of the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse garnered third team honors.

The team comprises the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo.

In order to be eligible for the Academic All-America® program, nominees must: be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials; have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work; have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one calendar year at the institution; and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.

Lee, a senior from Clarksville, Tenn., boasts a 3.95 grade point average and is majoring in English and Spanish. She is the third Warhawk gymnast in the last four seasons to receive Academic All-America® honors.

A childhood education major, Scozzie earned a spot on the Academic All-America squad for the second-straight season, as she entered the spring semester with a 4.04 cumulative grade point average (the GPA was adjusted to a 3.93 on a 4.0 scale for selection purposes). Scozzie’s honor is Cortland’s 30th national Academic All-America award overall and the 11th since 2011.

A sophomore from Lake Elmo, Minn. (Stillwater), Enright is majoring in microbiology with minors in Spanish and chemistry and sustains a 4.00 grade point average. UW-La Crosse has placed a gymnast on the Academic All-America® squad four of the last eight years.
