Jondahl and Zurowski Earn WIAC Gymnast of the Week Honors

Springfield, Mass. – January 18, 2017 – Kaylee Jondahl (Elk River, Minn.) of the University of Wisconsin – Stout and Lauren Zurowski (Greenfield, Wisc.) of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire have been recognized for their impressive performances this past week, as each earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Gymnast of the Week honors, announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Jondahl, the top-ranked All-Around gymnast in Division III, took the top spot in the all-around competition in a dual with the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater on January 13. The senior tallied 37.500 points to top four other gymnasts. Jondahl was first on the floor exercise (9.750), third on the vault (9.500), fifth on the balance beam (9.350) and eighth on the uneven bars (9.100). As a team, the Blue Devils set their best-ever season-opening score in a 187.850-184.300 loss to the Warhawks.

Zurowski, a junior for the Blugolds, had solid performances on all three of her events at the Ozone Classic (Tennessee) on Jan. 14. She recorded her personal best on the vault with a 9.600. On the uneven bars, Zurowski scored a 9.500, only .75 below her personal best. She competed as an exhibition on the floor throwing a new routine for the first time and scored a 9.650.
